PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Mayor Jorge O. Elorza today joined city officials in announcing an executive order effective Saturday, March 21 at 5PM until further notice, which includes additional restrictions and closures on local establishments aimed at mitigating the spread of COVID-19 locally.

The following establishments and facilities will be closed to the public until further notice:
- Fitness Centers, Health Clubs, Health Spas, Gyms, Aquatic Centers
- Hair Salons and Barber Shops
- Massage Parlors and Body Works Establishments
- Beauty Salons (Including tanning, nail and eyelash salons)
- Tattoo Parlors
- Flea Markets
- Mass Gatherings (including social, community, spiritual, religious, recreational, leisure, and sporting gatherings and events of more than 10 people)
NEW RELEASE MARCH 23, 2020: EFFECTIVE MARCH 24th at 7:00AM anyone flying into TF GREEN Airport, you will be asked to provide your contact information by the National Guard, and asked to self quarantine for 14 days. ***Exceptions for health care workers and vital support*** If you are a Rhode Island business and you have employees who live in Mass, highly recommended these employees work from home if possible.
Effective March 26, 2020: All retail businesses i.e big box retailers are to allow only 20% of their buildings capacity. Once at 20% customers are to wait outside in a line at least 6 feet apart. These rules will be enforced via local and state police, spot checks to be performed randomly.
Effective March 26, 2020: All residents of New York traveling to Rhode Island will be required to self quarantine for 14 days. Travels by Bus or Train will be met by the National Guard & required to give their contact information. Those traveling the motorways with New York plates will be subject to a police stop, and then required to give their information. Information given will be used for the sole purpose of public health, and nothing else. ***Commercial vehicles are excluded*** ***No supply chain interruptions***
Effective March 28, 2020: Rhode Island National Guard to be doing spot checks at homes known to be rented or owned by New York Residents.
Effective March 28, 2020: Governor Gina Raimondo has signed an executive order to implement “A stay at home policy” All gatherings of more than 5 people are banned. Any out of state travel other than work obligations, you must then self quarantine for 14 days. Starting Monday March 30th, 2020 all no critical retail business are to close until April 13th, 2020.
Effective April 3, 2020: Governor Gina Raimondo has closed all local parks and beaches. Bike paths remain open. Camp ground to remain closed until at least May 3, 2020.
